Last night, I covered The Walking Dead red carpet. Now, as most of my friends, readers, and random stalkers know… my red carpet reports are usually about the ladies and their high heels.
But last night’s event was hosted by AMC channel, and the influence of its hit show Mad Men was so pervasive, I absolutely could not ignore the men. In spite of the icy temps, the fellas were looking hot-hot-hot!
My favorite suit of the night belonged to Steven Yuen. The skinny tie, narrow lapels and crisp, clean look were just so perfect.
AMC News Host Jacob Soboroff was also rocking the retro-cool vibe with his jacket and tie, plus those sexy black rimmed glasses (glad those are back in style).
Linds Edwards was hands-down the best rocker/hipster of the night. I wasn’t able to get as many good photos of everyone as I would have liked, but I had lots of interviewees in front of me and also the carpet was tight — I could not zoom out very well. On the left, Linds had a bandana wrapped around his wrist, plus several assorted bangles with pendants shaped like guns, skulls, knives, etc. I really liked it the whole deal. He had skinny jeans with the cuffs folded over.
Definitely stripped down compared to the stars, but I thought even AMC’s Roving Photographer looked smashing.
Andrew Lincoln, the main attraction of The Walking Dead (aside from Frank Darabont — his photos are at horror.com), also looked great but I never did get a decent snap of him. In fact, I feel kind of guilty posting such an unflattering angle of him, but it’s all I’ve got. He totally blew me away with his memory — the first thing he said to me when he stepped up to my mic was, “Oh, hi. We talked at Comic-Con!” That was three months ago. How could he possibly have remembered that? I’m impressed.
OK, the women were there too. This is Gale Ann Hurd, a producer on the show. I liked elements of her look (patterned tights, boots, leopard, leather, studs) — but not all together. She was really funny and smart (as usual) though, so it was a pleasure (as always!)
Shoes, shoes. Publicists’ shoes!
Here’s me with Mike from ELS (the lighting people). We remember to take a pic together every couple of years (that last one was at the Hellboy 2 premiere, even though we see each other all the time!).
Myself and the zombies… at first, I tried to blend in. But who am I kidding? I can’t hold a snarl for more than a few seconds.
I hardly ever wear fur, but I do have a couple of pieces. This one is a Chris Ann original. I figured for something called “Walking Dead” it was appropriate. The last time / item was my fur-lined suede leather jacket at The Wolfman premiere (it was freaking freezing that night, too. Yesterday, I was so cold I thought my mic had turned into an popsicle).
But Wait… There’s More!
The real zombie. Ugh. End of the night, and I’m channeling my inner Teri Hatcher. (Get me to a tannery!)
Actually, I guess the celeb trend of posting their makeup free pics is a good thing. She still looks cute! (But I do still worship the holy trinity and pan-cake altar of Max Factor, Mary Quant and Bobbi Brown)

BLOG IN A BLENDER
I remember, not too long ago, when I’d post two or three blogs a week. Now, it’s more like two or three every few months. Since there is no way on earth I can possibly catch you guys up on everything… here are a few random highlights and thoughts, many of which are dictated by photos I just happened to have on my laptop. Prepare for disorganization, Staci Layne style.
This is a pic of my baby curl… my mom gave it to me on my birthday when I went to visit her in Washington in August. It’s pretty amazing (to me, anyway) that the natural shade has not changed much at all.
However, I am thinking of going revved-up red again soon. This is from last year, exactly to the month. I’m keeping the bangs I have now, for sure, but sometimes I like the Jessica Rabbit red shade as opposed to my own blonder red. Not sure yet.
One thing I am definitely sure of is — I am so relieved I’m finally getting back down to my favorite weight. This evidence is from last week, but as of today I’m 103.5 lbs. Worked out really hard this morning, too. I want to get my muscle tone back, after falling off the wagon for the better part of 2010.
[note to self: time for a mani/pedi!]
At the beach a few months ago, really heavy but posing skinny. I can’t wait to take some new pics here, probably in early November. This is an AWESOME location. I have some new dresses I want to show off.
Hello, lover! I saw this ahhhhh-mazing Corvette Stingray the other day at valet parking for an event I was covering at Disneyland.
Goodbye, lover… Black Beauty burned on the freeway a few weeks ago.
Saw this neat pic of a Bugatti in this month’s (I think it’s this month’s… I am awfully far behind in my reading) VANITY FAIR. I swoon over it. So Batman-sleek ‘n sexy.
VANITY FAIR has several great things in it. I actually bought for the article on Marilyn Monroe’s diaries (and especially enjoyed this photo below)
…but I also liked some of the fashion spreads they had – the styling in this pic is especially retro-cool. Probably a bit much for everyday life, but then again everyday life is boring.
Saw some very enticing items at Borders awhile ago (I didn’t buy them. I was so proud of myself… then, a few days later I relapsed and bought some other books)
[I love this one on the title alone… and, it reminds me of that Led Zeppelin expose]
Speaking of “vanities” – I’m still working on my ongoing series of mirrors self-portraits, but I have not published any of them in months and months. So far behind. Here are a couple.
It’s almost my favorite day of the year! As usual, I have two costumes and several parties. (But no co-hosting with Heidi this year… I am woebegone! But the woman does have her schooling to attend to. Midterms!)
On oe night, I will be a vampire. Which may sound pretty standard, but in all my years of loving Halloween, and all my years of loving vampires too, I have never, ever donned the fangs. So, I am gonna go for it.
Found this old pic from when I used to go trick-or-treating in Tarzana on my pony, Smokey. This is me, and my first boyfriend. (I always hated couples costumes, and yet as recently as last year I was still stuck as part of one!)
On the second night, I am going to be a dead flapper. I was thinking Peg Entwhistle, or Evangeline Broussard from the new Nights of the Demons movie. But then that pic of the Bugatti in VANITY FAIR reminded me of Isadora Duncan: coolest roaring 20s dead chick, ever. (I was lucky enough to visit her grave once!)
Here is the real Isadora Duncan…
…and, a new fashion photo, inspired by her spoke-tacular death
For some reason, I’ve been in scarf-wearing mode lately. I have a lot them (mostly vintage, I especially like Vera), but I -a) don’t think I look very good in a scarf, usually… it’s just not very ‘me’, and -b) I tend to have so much else going on wardrobe-wise, that a scarf is overkill (all due respect to Ms. Duncan). At any rate, here’s Uncle Creepy’s favorite scarf of mine, which I wore to the Bowling for Boobies event the other night. This is me and Gabby West (Scream Queens cycle 2 winner).
Here’s another scarf, worn in Singapore a few (FAT!) months back. I like this one a lot (it’s a Vera)
|From Singleton in Singapore|
Anyway, back to Halloween. I needed a doll for one of my costumes (and also for another project, which is coming up in Dec), so I bought this Keeneye on eBay. Turns out it is too large for my purposes … but I’m keeping it. It was a real steal.
I Hate The 80s
To those who know me, it’s a pretty well-known fact that I am not a fan of the 1980s. (Yet, Amanda still loves me!) However, I did recently find some pics from that era that aren’t too terribly gross. The first one is Yves St. Laurent couture, 40s inspired. The second one is Morgan Fairchild. The last one is an unknown bikini babe.
Mum & Dad’s past, still in the future
I’m going to see my parents in Washington next month. Looking forward to it. I’m seeing my dad’s concert in Issaquah, and also going to Gig Harbor to help my mom begin on her memoirs (I *must* remember to ask her more about her role in the below flick!)
The latest exploits
I covered Terrance Zdunich’s THE TUTOR event for horror.com, and just prior to that had dinner with one of my dearest friends, Darren Smith.
At the event, I caught up with Peaches and Danica… and many, many others! (Pics on Facebook and whatnot)’
Tonight it’s the Saw 7 premiere, and then several days straight of editing videos, writing reviews, attending Halloween parties, doing housework, catching up on screeners (they are arriving by many a day! I just got the new Alien boxed set, plus three other DVDs… so far).
So, that’s where this ends. I’ll try and blog more regularly. That is, when I’m not too busy. (I guess that means no more blogs!)
